Welcome for the Dean

Kia ora.

My name is Debbie Fryer and I am the International Dean at Kuranui College. I am also a teacher and part of the Learning Centre team at Kuranui. I teach students that need extra learning support.

I have a strong connection to Kuranui College. Both my children went to this college, as did I, and my mother before me. My children are now both at university in Wellington.

I live in Carterton, which is ten minutes drive from Kuranui College. My house is on the edge of Carterton and surrounded by paddocks and animals. I have many pets, including a dog, turtle and sheep. I have been involved in Girl Guides for many years and take the youngest branch, along with my daughter and mother.

I love being the International Dean at Kuranui College and meeting students from other countries. I hope to make their stay in New Zealand an amazing experience and one they will never forget. I admire them for travelling across the world and facing a new challenge. Living with a new family, experiencing a new culture and coming to a new college is a huge undertaking and takes a lot of confidence! I am always available for my students and they can always contact me. I will do my best for them and always have their best interests at heart.

We have wonderful Host families that open their homes to our International students and treat them as their own children.

My main aim is to ensure my students are safe, happy and secure and having a wonderful experience at Kuranui College and in the Wairarapa.
