Drama

Our Drama Department is a mainstay of the local and national Theatre scene.
The students not only perform at school for things such as our major school productions, but also annually compete in the SGCNZ Shakespeare Festival, TheatreFest One Act Play Competition, and the Wairarapa Intercollegiate Theatresports.

We have won many awards at the National Shakespeare in Schools competition, selected as national finalists in the Theatrefest Competition, and routinely show up at the National Juggling and Circus Convention.

We also try to share our works with local schools, view performances further afield, and have had many students selected to represent New Zealand, performing at the Globe Theatre in London.
Our relationship with the local community theatre groups has lead to innovative shared performances, and real life experience on stage and behind the scenes.
Over the years, several of our senior students have both written and directed the major school production.

We also have a tech crew who are trained to work the sound, lighting, costuming and make up.
In 2021 they acted as the crew running backstage the National Dance Nimble Souls Festival in Lower Hutt and the SGCNZ National Shakespeare Festival at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington.
